Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the right local builder gets your request
- New deck, repair, or rebuild, and roughly how big
- Wood or composite, if you already have a preference
- How high the deck is off the ground, and whether it attaches to the house
- A photo or two of the house or the old deck, if you have them
Railing loose or boards giving way? Keep people off that part of the deck, especially kids and guests, until it's been checked. A railing that moves when you lean on it is not something to wait on.
